Savages

Another poem for today. It's national poetry month, try to write one poem per day for the whole month of April.

         Savages

Primitive instincts,

intrinsic within him.

Ferocious thoughts,

violent and uncontrolled.

∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩

Barbarian and wild man,

he rises and lacerates;

tearing to pieces

his prey and his victim.

∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩

Once more,

Who do you think you’re running from?

Once more,

Did you think you could escape him at all?

Once more,

Run away, far away, as fast as you can!

Once more,

He will become your slaughterer and your savior.

∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩

Thread on lightly,

be silent and be still

my child.

His lunar eclipse is rising,

keep on running away

my child.

Thread on steady paced.

Don’t venture

my child,

stay on the path.

Thread on, full throttle on.

Alas! Be quiet, be still;

my child,

pay attention to his needs.

∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩

Winter, is gone.

Springtime, will awaken

the darkness within him.

In the heat of the night,

Under the bloody moonlight,

he shall find you again

and forever make you his prey.
